UEFA Europa Conference League: Fiorentina and West Ham to meet in final
Declan Rice leads West Ham to glory as they defeat Fiorentina in the final
The 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final will take place on 7 June 2023 at the AEK Arena in Athens, Greece.
The match will see Italian side Fiorentina face off against English club West Ham United. This is the first time that either club has reached the final of a major European competition.
Fiorentina qualified for the final by defeating Istanbul Basaksehir 3-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals. West Ham, meanwhile, beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 on aggregate to reach the final.
The final is expected to be a close contest, with both teams in good form. Fiorentina are currently fifth in the Serie A table, while West Ham are seventh in the Premier League.
Rice was the hero for West Ham, scoring the only goal of the game in the 29th minute. The England international was also named man of the match for his performance.
The win is a major triumph for West Ham, who have never won a major European trophy before. It is also a personal triumph for Rice, who has been in excellent form for both club and country this season.
